The original independent mold factory and the specialized mold production plant separated from the enterprise tooling workshop played a key role in the development of the mold industry in Guangdong Province. A large number of individual, joint-stock and joint-stock die and mould enterprises have sprung up, which have injected vigorous vitality into the die and mould industry in Guangdong Province. Foreign and joint venture die and mould enterprises with advanced technology and equipment, manufacturing technology and management experience are enthusiastically entering Guangdong province, which strongly promotes the development and improvement of die and mould industry in Guangdong province. Precision hardware fittings industry scale expands rapidly. At present, the province has more than 7,000 mold manufacturing enterprises, with 280,000 employees and a total industrial output value of 12 billion yuan, double that of 1996. The number of enterprises, employees, completed industrial output value and total export value all rank first in the country. By the end of 2005, the output value of mold industry in the province had reached 29 billion yuan, accounting for 45% of the national industry, with an average annual growth rate of 19% in five years, much higher than the average annual growth rate of 12% in the national industry. In 2004, among the 50 mold enterprises with an output value of more than 30 million yuan announced by the management committee of China mold association, 11 were from Guangdong province, and 5 were from Heyuan Longji Metal Products Co., Ltd., Guangdong Julun Mould Co., Ltd., Guangdong Shengdu Mould Co., Ltd., Jieyang Tianyang Mould Co., Ltd., etc., ranked top 10. There are more than 20 companies in the province that exceed the output standard and are not on the published list.
